Campus development

Engadin

Year: 2021
Assignment: commissioned feasibility Study

As part of a feasibility study, a concept was developed for a future-oriented campus that provides a contemporary living and learning environment. Based on the principle of co-living, the design responds to the diverse needs of students. Private units – in the form of studios or two-room apartments – are complemented by shared kitchens and communal spaces, all arranged around a central core to encourage spontaneous interaction and a strong sense of community.

The campus is envisioned as an open “village within a village,” featuring a central dining hall with a café, a cultural space for small events, and a lively central plaza that serves as a social hub.

Sustainability is at the heart of the project, following the Cradle-to-Cradle principle. The use of regional, separable materials and a flexible building structure ensures adaptability to future needs. The buildings, constructed using a timber skeleton system, allow for high levels of prefabrication and efficient, resource-conscious implementation. Flat roofs are designed to accommodate photovoltaic and solar energy systems, with additional potential for integrating local energy networks.
